Action Learning Take Your Business to the Next Level

At most workplaces, people run a race. They start early on Mondays and end late on Fridays. They need time to renew and recuperate. We often hear of people wanting to spend more time thinking, but most of them are sucked into fire fighting. The solution to the workplace challenge lies not in the hands of a consultant, but within teams and organisations.

Action Learning

Action Learning is a tool or process built on the principles of “learning by doing” founded by Reg Revans. Trained as a physicist at Cambridge University, he worked with some scientists who went on to win Nobel prizes. He observed the importance of being open of our own shortcomings and learning from other’s experiences, while challenging one’s knowledge and assumptions. 

Later, he applied these principles to solving workplace problems. In the process, he enabled managers to handle their own issues and reduce their dependency on others.
There are many schools of action learning, which have developed their own methodologies.

Action Learning adalah suatu alat atau proses yang dibangun di atas prinsip-prinsip "learning by doing" yang ditemukan oleh Reg Revans. Dilatih sebagai seorang fisikawan di Cambridge University, dia bekerja dengan beberapa ilmuwan dan memenangkan hadiah Nobel. 

Ia mengamati pentingnya membuka diri atas kelemahan kita sendiri dan belajar dari pengalaman orang lain, sambil menantang pengetahuan dan asumsi. 
Kemudian, ia menerapkan prinsip-prinsip ini untuk memecahkan masalah-masalah di tempat kerja. Dalam proses, ia memungkinkan manajer untuk menangani masalah-masalah mereka sendiri dan mengurangi ketergantungan mereka pada orang lain. Ada banyak sekolah Action Learning, yang telah mengembangkan metodologi mereka sendiri.

Dalam banyak tempat kerja, orang-orang saling  berlomba. Mereka memulai dari awal pada hari Senin pagi dan berakhir pada hari Jumat malam. Mereka perlu waktu untuk memperbaharui dan memulihkan diri. Kita sering mendengar orang-orang ingin menghabiskan lebih banyak waktu mereka dalam berpikir, tetapi kebanyakan dari mereka tersedot kedalam situasi bak pemadam kebakaran.

Solusi untuk tantangan dalam dunia kerja bukan terletak di tangan seorang konsultan, tetapi pada tim dan organisasi. Jika kita tidak punya waktu untuk membicarakannya, bagaimana kita akan menanganinya bijaksana?
